This five-day workshop taught students how to become the author of their own stories. They explored the history of cinema, the basics of film grammar, and most importantly, the layering of meaning in cinematic storytelling.
Through a combination of lectures and hands-on workshops, students created short videos to illustrate the creative process and the concept of a prototype. They learnt how to use video to present themselves, their work and ideas, document works in progress, and how to apply audiovisual storytelling to showcase products or technological applications.
The workshop equipped participants with 'just enough' skills to enable them to independently develop their ideas and projects afterwards.
Adriano Sforzi is an Italian director known for his work in both documentary and short films. He gained significant recognition by winning the David di Donatello Award in 2011 with his short film “Jody delle giostre”, which explores the life of fairground workers. Another standout work is his 2015 documentary “L’equilibrio del cucchiaino”, which tells the story of his relative Alberto “Bertino” Sforzi, a circus performer, and was awarded at the Biografilm Festival.
In addition to his filmmaking, Sforzi is involved in educational projects, collaborating with the Italian Ministry of Culture (MIBACT) to bring visual education to schools. He also directs cinematic events such as those at Casa Fellini, an organization in Romagna dedicated to cultural cinema.
His films often reflect a personal and poetic style, rooted in his family’s circus heritage.
