Naked Guy

The concept started out in the  opposite direction—an app that would tell you what to wear based on the weather—however, clothing choices are personal, and the one outfit we all have in common is no outfit at all. Thus, Naked Guy was born.

The app features a naked man with tastefully placed pixels—at first, he had underwear, but classmates pointed out that he wasn’t actually naked. His reactions vary based on the time, temperature and precipitation data. A time-scrubber at the bottom of the screen lets the users see the next 24 hours of weather data, and the naked guy responds accordingly. Swiping left or right anywhere on the screen changes the current location. For at-a-glance weather updates, Naked Guy also offers a lightweight widget that can be placed on a phone’s home screen.

Naked Guy is a prototype built in Origami Studio, but it actually works! Opening the app pulls in live weather data from Open-meteo. The guy himself was hand drawn and then traced in Figma and re-drawn in several different positions.

In building Naked Guy, Alec intentionally chose a project with a small feature set and single page experience. This gave him a chance to really focus on high quality interactions, getting comfortable with Origami Studio and improving his illustration skills.
