Track your vibes, rain or shine
CloudNine is a weather-powered mood tracking app that helps users uncover patterns between their emotions and the climate. Instead of forcing a new habit, CloudNine builds on an existing one—checking the weather—making mood tracking effortless and intuitive.
The app allows users to log their feelings using expressive “Mood Dudes,” simple yet engaging emoticons designed for quick selection. Over time, users can observe trends in their emotions, exploring how factors like rain, sunshine, or temperature shifts might influence their state of mind. The interface prioritises clarity, avoiding overwhelming charts or unnecessary gamification. Instead, users can browse their mood history through a clean, list-based view.
Built as an interactive prototype, CloudNine was developed using Figma for UI design and Origami for high-fidelity animations and interactions. Special attention was given to the emotional impact of colour, ensuring that weather and mood indicators remain distinct to prevent subconscious bias. The design evolved through multiple iterations, refining the emoticons, typography, and navigation to create an intuitive, visually engaging experience.
This project reinforces the importance of thoughtful UX decisions, from simplifying the interface to optimising for habit formation. The result is a concept that reimagines mood tracking as a natural part of daily life—helping users reflect on their emotions without disrupting their routine.
