OPEN LECTURE: Manali Mohanty & Mayo Nissen

March 2025

Layers of time

Mayo will speak about change, time, and scale. Tracing the concept of pace layering back along a winding path through architecture, complexity theory, and biology, he will discuss what it means to make change through interaction and service design in today's world.

How to Build Resilience

Manali will explore the concept of resilience, sharing insights from her own experiences and her TED talk. She will demonstrate how resilience can be learned, built over time, and flexed like a muscle when needed most. Drawing parallels from nature, she will show how resilient humans and systems can weather challenges. In a world facing political strife, climate change, and a mental health epidemic, Manali will explore how resilience offers us a pathway to adapt, endure, and ultimately give hope to humanity.
