Film and television have given us many examples of how artificial intelligences might look and move as embodied characters, but how can we go beyond a set of eyes and use the design of software itself to inspire empathy?
This talk will discuss the unconventional design processes New Computer utilised when developing Dot, an artificially intelligent living history.

Julian Francis Kelly is a visual and software designer based in New York City. He has worked for companies including Meta, The New York Times, and New Computer. He currently works with early stage startups, focusing on mixing traditional motion and typographic principles with contemporary interaction design. He holds a BFA from The Rhode Island School of Design.
