Eating an ekler in my anzug : an illustrated dictionary of foreign words in the Bulgarian language.

Languages evolve through cultural exchange, and Bulgarian is no exception. Born into a multicultural family, Irene has long been fascinated by this dynamic. Her talk will explore the influence of languages such as French, German, and Turkish on Bulgarian, tracing the journey of foreign words into everyday use. We will explore together a visually illustrated "dictionary" of these linguistic borrowings, along with a brief history of their origins and adoption into the Bulgarian language.
