When Apple envisioned our present: over 20 years ago, with Knowledge Navigator, it anticipated the devices we now live and work with.
Today, at the Monastero di Astino in Bergamo, in collaboration with MMN - Magnetic Media Network S.p.A. we hosted an event to share the story of the Apple Knowledge Navigator a “concept”created in 1987 to illustrate Apple’s vision of the technologies we would (and do) use in the 2000s.Personal digital assistants, tablets, the internet, videoconferencing, and Artificial Intelligence, everything in a visionary film that amazed us then and continues to fascinate us today.
The guest of honour was Gavin Ivester, a designer who took part in the project and will help us present the world premiere of a perfect replica of the Knowledge Navigator.
Gavin Ivester has had diverse experiences, from driving a forklift and playing bass in a band to founding a successful rum brand. He has held leadership roles in design at Apple (where he designed the first PowerBook), Nike, PUMA, Bang & Olufsen, and Gibson Guitar. He is currently Senior Director of Design for Cisco’s collaboration devices, leading the team that is defining the future of the industry.
Over 100 people attended the event and it was fantastic to see such a vibrant community gathered together at our new campus.
