Welcome to LT —think of it as your neighborhood tabacchi, but designed for those who feel lost in translation whiAstinole navigating Bergamo. This speculative service offers a variety of waters, with a bartender on hand to assist those who may find themselves adrift during their time here.
For the team, water symbolized many things like cleansing, renewal, and adaptability, yet its most essential quality—being freely accessible—felt just out of reach as newcomers in Italy.
Given the brief to design a service/product that celebrates an experience they had in Bergamo, the team was brought together by the common thread of being new to Bergamo, and in their initial days, feeling lost.
“There is history to a place but you can’t see it”
“There is a home but you can’t live in it”
“There is free-flowing water but you can’t drink it”
These reflections spoke to the barriers they faced: cultural, linguistic, and communal. Despite these challenges, they were welcomed and guided by the warmth of the Bergamaschi, who helped them gradually adapt to local life.
Drawing on these experiences, the team created LT Astino as a space for the people of Bergamo to extend that same hospitality. It is a refuge for those who encounter obstacles to accessing the city’s essence—be it through language, intention, or connection to the community.
