Lenstino

Astino Unveiled: Learn as You Wander

To understand the challenges faced by Astino Valley first-time visitors, the team conducted qualitative interviews. They discovered that school groups, often visiting for a single day, frequently encounter difficulties. Arriving at the parking lot, a 15-20 minute uphill walk from their next destination, poses a challenge, particularly for younger students aged 5-10. This trek often leaves them fatigued and disengaged upon arrival.

In response, the team developed Lenstino, a digital device designed to enhance the students' journey. Volunteers would distribute these devices at the parking lot and guide the groups to three key destinations along the route, transforming the walk into an engaging learning experience about the valley's history. At each destination, Lenstino activates, prompting students to complete interactive tasks. Desk research also indicated that task-oriented activities can mitigate fatigue, motivating the students and ensuring they remain energized for the other planned activities at their next destination.

The next steps involve collaborating with all stakeholders to finalise logistical details and conducting further research with young students to optimise Lenstino's effectiveness.
