An intuitive timeline
Circadian is an exploration into digital visual representation and the architecture of body and time. It investigates how to visualise a cyclical timeline interactively so that the user is oriented in the present while also being able to access information about other phases of their rhythm. The project takes the form of an app for circadian rhythm tracking, offering users the ability to create a personalised rhythm.
The interface moves beyond conventional design norms such as clocks, tab bars, and menus, embracing a more fluid and engaging interaction. Through dynamic visualisation and intuitive navigation, users can track and understand their biological rhythms without the interface feeling like a chore. The app aims to be both functional and enjoyable, making the process of tracking and adjusting circadian rhythms feel natural and beneficial.
The development process was highly iterative. Initially, the project explored traditional visualisations such as conventional clocks and static menus. However, given that circadian rhythms are inherently dynamic, the challenge became to create an interface that reflected this natural fluidity. The goal was to develop an experience that felt engaging and intuitive rather than rigid or task-oriented. By rapidly prototyping with digital tools such as Origami, the project evolved towards a more immersive and rhythmic interaction.
