Role Overview
Resident Faculty play a pivotal role in shaping the learning experiences of students across CIID's educational programs. This position combines teaching, mentorship, and collaboration, with opportunities to engage in real-world projects that advance the field of interaction design.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching and Curriculum Development
- Work with the Head of the Interaction Design Programme and visiting faculty to design and deliver high-quality, engaging courses.
- Create and update course materials to reflect current thinking and technologies.
- Provide hands-on guidance and mentorship to students throughout their IDP experience.
- High level of involvement in internal and external activities such as exhibitions and conferences.
Student Mentorship
- Support students in developing their personal and professional skills.
- Foster an inclusive and collaborative studio culture, encouraging critical thinking and experimentation.
Collaboration and Community Engagement
- Work closely with an interdisciplinary team to align educational activities with CIID’s goals.
- Build connections with industry professionals, organisations, and alumni to provide students with real-world opportunities.
- Represent CIID at international events, promoting the CIID’s projects, people and values.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- A Master’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Interaction Design, Service Design, or a related field.
- Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in interaction design, prototyping, or related creative practices.
- Teaching or mentoring experience in an educational or professional setting.
- Proficiency in research, ideation, and iterative prototyping.
- Experience working in an interdisciplinary and international environment.
- Enthusiasm for fostering an inclusive and diverse learning environment.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated ability to integrate life-centredness and regeneration into design practice.
- Knowledge of emerging tools and technologies (e.g., physical computing, machine learning, AR/VR).
