Role Overview
As the Head of the Interaction Design Programme, you will lead and shape the vision, strategy, and execution of one of CIID’s flagship offerings. This role combines leadership, curriculum development, team management, and partnership building with both local and global organisations. The Head of the IDP’s key responsibility is to ensure that the programme continues to deliver value to its students and stakeholders, maintaining its position at the forefront of interaction design education globally.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic
- Define and evolve the vision and strategic direction of the Interaction Design Programme in alignment with CIID’s purpose and values.
- Foster a forward-thinking and experiential learning environment that addresses emerging trends in design, digital technology, and societal challenges.
Educational
- Oversee curriculum design and delivery to ensure the programme remains cutting-edge, interdisciplinary, and life-centred.
- Incorporate emerging technologies and methods into the curricula around themes such as life-centredness, AI, spatial computing and regeneration.
- Engage with world-class faculty, visiting lecturers, and industry partners.
- Engage with local partner organisations from both the public and private sector to feed the programme with real life challenges and contexts to work on in the region.
People and Resources
- Lead and inspire a team of educators and students to deliver an exceptional experience for all.
Partnership Development
- Build and nurture relationships with industry leaders, academic institutions, and organisations to create opportunities for collaboration, sponsorship, and scholarships.
- Represent CIID and the Interaction Design Programme at international conferences, workshops, and events.
Student Engagement
- Support and inspire students in their learning journeys, encouraging experimentation and critical thinking.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and collaboration.
Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Exceptional communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Experience working in an international and interdisciplinary environment.
- Ability to build and maintain a collaborative studio culture.
Preferred:
- Established network in the design and innovation community.
- Track record of engaging with regeneration, ethics, and inclusivity in design practice.
- Proven success in curriculum development and academic programme leadership.
- Understanding of life-centred design principles and methodologies.
- Experience in interaction design practice, research, or education.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate emerging technologies into design education.
