The visiting faculty on this course – Gillian Crampton Smith, Phil Tabor and Bill Verplank – have a copious amount of experience in the field of interaction design. Bill has had a profound influence in the pioneering and emergence of Interaction Design and Gillian has been responsible for setting up some of the best interaction design education programmes.

During their time with the students they covered a number of topics using different learning methods including lectures, sketching, discussion and body-storming. Through this, the students learned about the relatively short but rich history of interaction design, and current thinking surrounding the discipline. A lot of time was spent on the discussion of the role of metaphors and paradigms within interaction design and the importance of them to make the successful products and user experiences.
