The Entryway

This course revolved around storytelling and acting as forms of presentation and brainstorming. We approached interaction design as a way to imagine future scenarios. This culminated in a “house of the future,” an installation of interactive rooms that present a living space set in the future. Our team focused on its entryway.

Our future entryway emphasizes the divide of transparency and privacy by giving the resident control over the entryway’s transparency, quite literally. The entryway’s windows change from opaque to transparent, “offline” to “online,”  as the user desires social interaction with friends, neighbors, and members of the community. The entryway also included features such as an interactive flower wall, automatic coat dryers, instant weather forecast, and home-wide energy consumption control.
