The Chinese character “雨” is one of the pictogram characters derived from symbols and pictures‭ inherited from thousands of years ago.

This project uses the idea of Chinese pictogram characters to show the real time data of the weather report on the Internet in four different cities around the world: Copenhagen, Barcelona, Taipei and Perth. The numbers behind the weather are the parameters that via algorithms, create meaningful visual output and beautiful images.

Depending on the different levels of humidity and weather conditions, the colour and the transparency of the Chinese characters will change, conveying the idea of the parametric.

This 2-week course taught how to interpret data into visual designs to make information more aesthetic and easily understandable. Processing was as a creative tool for design output. A large amount of logical thinking is practiced in the generative design process, especially when learning how to program from scratch!
