Designing interactive interfaces on paper and using click-through mockups is a good first step towards a final design – but often it is not enough. By using code, we can add dynamic interactivity and animation which makes prototypes and applications come alive. This enables a better understanding of the problems that need to be dealt with and the observation of emerging user behaviours.

This one week skills upgrade class focused on using Adobe Illustrator and Flash to create data visualisations. By learning how to access external data and creating user interfaces to interact with it, students were given a solid base for creating prototypes using the Flash Platform.
