Fahmida Azad

IDP Lead
Nationality: Bangladeshi-American

Fahmida is CIID’s Interaction Design Programme lead, currently running the 1-year long Interaction Design Programme in San Jose, Costa Rica with its inaugural cohort outside of Copenhagen. She, along with a small team of dedicated staff members on the ground, launched IDP in Costa Rica in 2020. 

Before jumping into this role, Fahmida worked with CIID’s Professional Programmes leading and teaching Design Thinking workshops for clients all over the world, while also facilitating the development and growth of new business opportunities. 

Fahmida is an interaction designer with a firm belief that design can impact positive social change through the ensuring of equal opportunities for all people. She often questions which humans are centered in “human-centered design” and works towards designing inclusive futures. She has a background in psychology and human rights work, is a graduate of IDP 2018, and a graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill 2009 (go TarHeels). 

She has spent time working and living in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, North America, and now Central America, however, home for her continues to be New York City.
