Selfie Plant

CIID was delighted to be invited to participate in the 2015 Trailer Park Festival’s IO programme of interactive exhibits. Seven student groups contributed projects, which were installed at the festival site in Vesterbro.

The Selfie Plant
What if nature gets addicted to “selfie culture” and expresses itself? If it could record moments like the blooming of a flower or a new leaf, and then share these moments on social networks? (image above)

Sound Blocks

Sound Blocks
The goal of Sound Blocks is to help children and people of all ages better understand the basic elements that make up sound, in a playful and engaging way. Using physical blocks, you can pick a basic waveform, the duration of the wave, and adjust the volume of each channel. (image avove)

Kinect Music

Kinect Music
Play a piano in the middle of the air, using physical gestures. Sounds are produced and controlled by the position of each of your hands in hree-dimensional space, which modify parameters in Ableton Live. The musical notes are visualised in Processing as bubbles with color, position and size dependent upon the pitch and velocity. (image above)

Spot On Radio

Spot On Radio
Spot On lets people curate music in a shared space by voting on the mood they desire. Ball-shaped tokens are placed on the face of the integrated radio/speaker — The closer to the center, the more intense the musical selections. Spot On then uses this real-time information to pull music from the Spotify API using emotive qualities as a filter. (image above)

Financial Future

Financial Future
Under a glass terrarium lives the miniature model of a dream: a new school for the neighborhood. As the community contributes by tapping a credit card or phone they see the subject of their dream grow and take shape. Financial Future brings the fundraising jar to life as a dynamic, living hologram. (image above)

Future-Self Mirror
