Personality by Design

Our world is getting more connected and our devices and environments are getting smarter every day. Artificial Intelligence is evolving rapidly and most of us are already interacting with smart machines in some way or form on a daily basis, augmenting our lives in ways that would have seemed wildly futuristic just a few years ago. While some of us are finding the love of our lives with help from these AI’s, others lose their jobs and livelihoods to them. Naturally we’re curious and hopeful, but also skeptical and sometimes fearful of these machines—for good reasons.

This calls for a future, where we as designers widen our scope from designing objects and interfaces, to designing and building emotional relationships with the products we let into our lives,—just like we’re building relationships with other living beings in our lives. But where do we start?

In this talk we’ll explore how humans perceive personality, how we might break it down into its core components, and how we might use simple means to design for emotional connection with the things we make.

When: Thursday Nov 9th 2017, 17-18.

Where: CIID, Toldbodgade 37B, Ground Floor, 1253 Copenhagen K.
