For the first half of our open lecture, we will have Hermann Kudlich talking about:
Experience design: Bridging the digital and physical world
LEGO® House will be a 12,000 m2 hands-on, minds-on experience centre in Billund where LEGO fans of all ages are invited to discover the magic behind the LEGO brand.
In this talk Hermann Kudlich will give a sneak peek behind the scenes, showing how some of the experiences were brought to life and introducing the design process that led to new ways of interacting with LEGO bricks and innovations in digital and physical play.
Hermann is digital lead at LEGO House and responsible for the overall digital vision and strategy. He is passionate about seamlessly merging digital and physical play and tackling 21st century design challenges.
And for the second half of the open lecture, we will have Mikhail Mansion giving this artist talk:
Shaping Things / Shaping Ourselves
The 21st Century is marked by computation, media and material technology. But how is this mediated landscape altering our sense of time, space and matter? What does it mean to give shape the world, through design and interaction? How do the things we make make us?
In this talk, Mikhail will discuss his approach to using technology as a material for practicing art and design in service of cultural sensemaking. He will also share some personal insights regarding his transition from weapons development to building ecologically-motivated art and design projects.
Mikhail Mansion is an American artist, engineer and educator using methods of computational design and fabrication to fashion media-based installations focused on exploring intersections between environmental systems and culture. He is also the Director of Technology at Tellart, a global design company creating interactive products, installations and exhibitions. He has taught art, design and technology courses at Rhode Island School of Design for the past 7 years.
