David Sherwin

David Sherwin is an interaction designer and creative director with expertise in guiding multidisciplinary teams in the creation of novel products and services. David is currently Director of User Experience at lynda.com, an online learning product utilized by millions of people worldwide to learn the skills they need to succeed and pursue their passions. He is also a Fellow at frog, a global product design and strategy firm, where he previously served as an Interaction Design Director. His clients have included GE, AT&T, Microsoft, JPMorgan Chase, Girl Effect, Tipping Point Community, UNICEF, and many others in the nonprofit and for-profit sectors.

David’s two books are Creative Workshop: 80 Challenges to Sharpen Your Design Skills and Success by Design: The Essential Business Reference for Designers, both of which have been translated into multiple languages. He is also a co-author of frog’s Collective Action Toolkit, which is a collaboration and creativity tool for group problem solving by local communities. The toolkit recently won a Bronze IDEA award in Design Strategy from the IDSA and was recognized by the AIGA in their 100 Years of Design retrospective.

David taught from 2011 to 2014 as a senior lecturer and founding faculty in the BFA in Interaction Design program at California College of the Arts, where he led a studio class about the role of story in user experience design design. He has spoken and conducted workshops at many events and schools, and has previously taught at CIID.

He lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with Mary Paynter Sherwin, a freelance writer, editor, and speaking coach.
