Laura Perovich

Country: US

Laura is a researcher based in Boston, Massachusetts in the United States. After graduating from Bowdoin College with a BA in mathematics and religion, she spent two years teaching math in a small village in Guinea, West Africa.

Since returning to the US, she has worked at an environmental health non-profit, focusing on programming, statistics, and data visualization.

Laura enjoys quilting and recently started using electronic textiles to create responsive objects. She also likes thinking up ways to represent digitally-stored information in the physical world, and learning more about human computer interaction. She hopes these interests will become part of her career soon.

Despite years of gymnastics, pole vaulting, and slacklining, Laura still hasn’t learned to fly. Aspects of life that she particularly appreciates are open source software, colorful things that float, and the aesthetics of bicycle gears.
