Sara Anand

Country: India
Course: Biomimetic Interfaces

Sara is a Product and Interface Design Graduate from Srishti School of Art, Design & Technology, Bangalore, India and is currently working as a Freelance Designer in Mumbai.

At Srishti, Sara was able to recognise her penchant for designing interactive products. The user and research driven spheres embodying interaction design completely intrigue her. She is curious about people – their perceptions, eccentricities and idiosyncrasies, the cultures they build, the societies they live in, the customs they follow and the stories they tell. She is also interested in building products and services that enrich our lives. This curiosity and interest has manifested in the nature of her projects that entailed building storytelling machines and developing products in collaboration with craftsmen that focus on the poetries of interaction between human beings and artefacts.

In her experience, interaction design acts as a great tool for storytelling and enhances the experience of using a product or service. Her work in the past years encompasses different levels of interactive design – consumer driven products like furniture and packaging to educational aids to new media centred concepts.

Sara believes that the BioMimetic Interfaces design workshop at the CIID summer school will help enhance her skills and further expand her understanding of interaction design. It will be an opportunity to meet and work with new people, gain new insights, experiences and a better perspective for her future endeavours.

Apart from design, Sara enjoys reading and analysing handwriting, working with ceramics, learning new & varied skills, cooking and trying new cuisines, travelling especially to meet new people and learn about different cultures, reading fast paced books with well-written prose and watching intelligent cinema.
