Nitin Surendran

Nationality: Indian
Area of Expertise: User Interface Design, User Experience Design, Product Design

Nitin is an accidental designer who started his career as a sales executive at a design agency. His caricature drawing skills would land him a UX designer role in the same design agency where he gradually learnt the roots of design. By the age of 22, he was designing experiences for domains ranging from health to sports and education to e-commerce – also managing most of the projects he was involved in as an interim project manager.

He later went on to work with Sportskeeda (one of the largest sports news content platforms) where he was designing experiences to connect fans, pundits and athletes all over the world. In his short stint there, he designed a Medium-like editor and Sportskeeda’s content and user management platforms along with some significant design changes on the main website. His design decisions here were majorly data driven thanks to its 150Mn+ annual users.

Nitin’s desire to work with companies at a global scale came true when he started working with redBus (world’s largest bus ticketing platform) where his designs scaled multiple geographies including India, Malaysia, Singapore, Peru and Colombia. At redBus, he was responsible for designing and redesigning almost all verticals on the platform – buses, bus rentals, hotels, pilgrimages, car rentals, etc.

Most of his previous works are still in production which is a testimony to his belief and skill in creating engaging, impactful, long lasting experiences that people love to use.

Today, Nitin is an interaction designer, a tinkerer of electronic machines, and a skilled caricature artist who straddles several worlds of design and technology. His latest love is the world of creative technology and physical tangible experiences. A world where he aspires to bridge the gap between people and technology and make technology feel more human.

When he’s not designing, you can find him riding motorcycles (sometimes building them), strumming the guitar or doodling caricatures.
