An understanding of user needs and desires can be the source of innovative ideas, an inspiration for quality design, and increases the relevance of what we produce for the end users.

The aim of this course was to give an understanding of the research methods and approaches that can be used to explore what those we are designing for actually need and desire. We also practiced synthesising that information into concrete insights to guide the design process.

The context for this particular course was elderly people’s homes.
