Is there a difference in the writing motions of girls and boys?

We randomly asked 10 girls and 10 boys to write A, B, C on an imaginary black board using a Wii remote as their pen. The recorded movements were then interpreted in Processing resulting in the images shown on the poster.

The poster illustrates selected frames from the sum of the girls’ and the boys’ movements. The first black line shows the ‘pitch’, the second indicates the ‘roll’ and the pink or blue line shows the acceleration.

By grouping the selected frames from the individual movements – and by differentiating them by color – I aimed to show how the two datasets varied from each other visually.
