Aleria / YourCity

In David Rose’s Supersight workshop, students were introduced to the fundamentals of augmented reality and asked how this technology might transform different industries. Aleria and YourCity were two examples of the team’s explorations from the week.

Aleria is an augmented reality projection that teaches hair stylist students proper hair cutting technique. By bringing in aspects of play, Aleria provides audio/visual feedback to help students gauge the proper length which to cut hair. Guidance is offered at different difficulty levels that help students level up.

YourCity is an augmented reality app that helps residents to learn about local public initiatives and makes it easy for them to engage. By showing residents how much of their tax dollars is going to each initiative, it helps better connect residents with their community and holds public employees accountable.

Each of these projects were conceived, shot, and edited in as single evening assignments.
