Silvia Sgualdini

Silvia is a contemporary art curator, writer and producer with a background in Architecture. After graduating from the Royal College of Art Curating MA, she gained extensive international experience across the private and public sectors, championing artistic talent to realise its creative and commercial potential.

As Head of Production for Liverpool Biennial, she was responsible for delivering the 2018 festival edition and the permanent public art commission Liverpool Mountain by Ugo Rondinone. Previously, she was Director at Pilar Corrias Gallery (2014 – 16) and Associate Director at Lisson Gallery (2006 – 14) in London, where she took a leading role in developing the exhibitions programme, spearheading out-of-the-box initiatives and large-scale curatorial projects on a global level.

In 2016 she was recipient of an AIDF grant from ACE/British Council for curatorial research in Mexico, studying organisations that innovate traditional craft techniques through contemporary design.

Silvia believes creativity is a key driver in global development and that the convergence of different disciplines and mindsets is crucial to address complex challenges for the changing needs of tomorrow. A resourceful and creative problem solver, she is excited to join a multidisciplinary cohort at CIID. She is passionate about aligning her work with her personal values, and she wants to channel her creativity and curiosity, appreciation of cultural value and managerial experience to drive change in the way we live, work and shape our society together.
