Puddle Skipper

Puddle Skipper is a game for kids that uses the concept of electromagnetism. A sensor-actuator principle is used to create this game, wherein two coins, when pressed against a conductive fabric, act as a sensor. When the current is passed, it magnetises a coil which repels the magnet above it. This actuator part of the circuit creates a slight levitation of the magnet. As long as there is current, the magnet keeps repelling. This simple action is placed in the context of a game. The goal of the game is to time the jump such that it avoided the obstacles (the water) that appeared on the rolling surface below. The voltage of the battery and size of the coil affected the strength of the levitation achieved.
