Super Lars

For the Art & Science of Storytelling final deliverable, we were expected to create a video about our partner based on a week of getting to know them and personal interviews. After spending a fair amount of time with Lars, it became clear that he is extremely shy – both in being interviewed and being filmed. Instead of using this as a creative hindrance, it became a creative design challenge: How to create a film about a subject who is not particularly comfortable being filmed. Similarly, a challenge to try something new: stop-motion. The desire to focus on the words of the subject were a key element in deciding to pursue a word-based stop-motion, as opposed to a more visual scenario. While, the decision to use post-it notes was a comment on their larger presence as a medium of storytelling in the field of user research and interaction design.
