Thermal Bulb

Thermal Bulb is a small exploration into the use of electronics and various conductive materials.

We painted several light bulbs on sheets of paper and canvas with thermochromic paint and attached, on the other side, different conductive materials. Each of the materials we used was connected to a power source so that the electricity passing through them would cause the materials to produce heat. As a consequence the paint turns white. The bulbs are activated by holding your hands close to a glass of salted water. The human body and the glass work as a capacitor switching the bulbs on.

Using electronics and a range of conductive materials made us aware of the material properties, electronic circuitry and the possibility of quickly prototyping our design.
