Wind exploration

The brief for this week was to take one photograph of something natural that you would work with during the week. I chose to explore wind/smoke. From the beginning, I wanted to learn more about using external data in Processing.

I gathered weather data from Copenhagen online and used that to visualize how the wind speed and direction changed over fifteen hours. I experimented with different ways of visualizing the data. In the end, I created a system with a menu over all the 30 data points (every 30th minute). I created a particle system of circles flowing in the direction determined by the wind. For the presentation we had to create one poster, representing the work.

Recreating a GIF animation
As a side project I also wanted to test my skills by exploring how detailed I could recreate this animated gif, using Processing. In my sketch, the center of the shape is following the cursor.
