Smoke Flow

With the camera as the eye, our goal was to capture the invisible and make it visible. After much inspiration and brainstorming we went on to capture air-flow in smoke. It was also an exploration into various photography techniques using tools like laser, torch lights.

From a 2D image of the air flow, the idea was to simulate the same in stop motion. The challenge was to create the smoothness of the flow as well as evolve the concept through the motion. After several trials with different materials the final motion was created using sugar.

Over the course of the module we experimented with photography techniques like slit scan photography and light painting, and explored the camera with the idea of taking risks.
