Moments of Gaming & The Gestures of Today

We explored the visualisation of the immaterials of gaming, the passing of time and the reiteration of levels. We used long exposure to show these “levels” whilst the player’s movements were also demonstrating the passing of time.

Second to this we focused on the obscure idea of gestural interfaces and making the immateriality of their actions noticeable in the physical environment.

This play of immateriality accumulated at our local arcade when we explored the concepts of time and movement in the classic video games of the late 80s and early 90s. The long exposures were used to capture the erratic movements and exaggerate the action and aesthetics of the era.
