Area of Expertise: Software prototyping, Usability, Interactive installations, Spatial Audio.
Having flitted around related areas in the recent past, Rohit hopes to have a focused year ahead to gain greater expertise and understanding in Interaction Design.
He was recently at the Human Interface Technology Lab, Chirstchurch, New Zealand [HITLabNZ] where he was involved in projects in Augmented Reality on the Android platform. A major part of his work was on the CityViewAR project, which aims to provide people a way to visualise Christchurch before the earthquakes and building demolitions through life sized virtual 3D models. It has recently been released on the Android Market.
Prior to this, Rohit gained a Bachelor’s degree in Design from the Department of Design at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. During this time, he was exposed to a variety of practices within design with courses and projects in Industrial Design, Visual Communication, Interaction Design, Ergonomics and Programming. His thesis was in the area of spatial audio. He has also previously worked at Usability Engineering Group at Zensar Technologies, Pune, India.
Rohit enjoys coming across new things and situations, which is across reading and learning, sports and games and a recent penchant for traveling.
