Energize – Feedback Socket

During the day we use several kinds of electrical equipment like kitchen blenders, irons and coffee machines. What the user might not know is how much power the appliances consume while they are being used. Coordinating the necessary time of use is a difficult task. Energize, an electronic socket, provides a quick visual feedback, giving the user real time information about the amount of power consumed.

When an electronic appliance is used the Energize socket starts to work. According to the time and amount of energy which is being used on the specific socket, a red light strip appears in the centre of the socket and grows to the edges when the consumption increases.

To show the concept we did two video prototypes. One low-resolution, that was done in five hours, and one high-resolution, that was done in one and a half days.
