Can Yanardag

Nationality: Turkish/ American

Area of Expertise: Design Critique

Can was born and raised in Istanbul, and has spent the last ten years working in New York City. He has attended Brown University, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and Parsons School of Design, and holds degrees in Visual Arts and Graphic Design.

While pursuing self-initiated art and design projects in New York, Can also spent several years working in the talent acquisition field, helping international design studios build their product design teams. During his time at frog design, he had the chance to familiarize himself further with interaction design and to learn more about human-centered design processes. After gaining some hands-on experience at SVA’s Summer Intensive in Interaction Design, Can knew that he wanted to pursue his interest in this discipline full-time.

Can is particularly interested in tackling design challenges in the areas of healthcare, education, and disaster relief. He looks forward to a year of collaboration and innovation with the multidisciplinary and multinational group of inventors at CIID.

In his free time, Can enjoys visiting art galleries and museums, reading about science, making strange collages, and eating his way through the culinary wonders of New York.
