Marie Koch

Marie works at CIID Research and Education where she helps shaping new strategies and research agenda in close collaboration with the CIID network. She has many years of teaching experience at various institutions in subjects such as textile experiments, scenography, fashions design and history.

For eight years Marie was a rector at The Teachers College for Arts and Crafts, Kerteminde were she took initiative to challenge the traditional arts and crafts education from the perspective of modern society. Marie is educated as a teacher, a weaver and she has MA in Gender and Cultural Studies from University of Southern Denmark. In 2012 she completed her Doctoral Degree in Philosophy and Didactics from The Faculty of Education, Åbo Akademi University Vasa, Finland with a dissertation “I Knit, Therefore I Am”. Learning and Identity In Informal Space.

Marie also runs her own consultancy and has worked for various clients, such as University of Århus, The Danish Accreditation Institution, Designschool Kolding and private clients. As a researcher, Marie is a regular speaker at conferences and events in the Nordic Countries. She is a coordinator of Arts, Culture and Education, a network under Nordic Educational Association of Research (NERA). Marie is also a co-founder of the Nordic research network ELISA, Estetiska Läroprocessor som IdentitetsSkapanda Aktivitet hosted at Åbo Akademi University in Finland.
