CIID has a healthy studio culture and prototyping is intrinsic to all of the work we do. Situated across the ground floor and basement of the CIID building, we have a fantastic digital fabrication lab, a fully fledged wood workshop and a professional video editing suite.
These facilities support our commercial research and development prototyping processes, and provide teaching and learning resources for our Interaction Design students and researchers.
As well as the lab, the ground floor plays host to photo-shoots and a lecture space that is used for OPEN Lectures and other events.
The new 3D printer and video editing suite has been made possible thanks to us being part of the Intel Design School Network. Intel is partnering with CIID and four other schools (Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California College of the Arts in San Francisco, Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh and Royal College of Art in London) to enhance the learning environment by introducing students to innovative technology and promoting creative thought leadership where technology and user experience collide.
Lauritzen Fonden sponsored technical equipment for the project it-lab and Manfrotto provided tripods, lighting and other equipment.
