Interaction Design & Ethnography (ITU)
IT Universitetet, Copenhagen
Faculty: Heather Martin & Simona Maschi, assisted by Vinay Vekatraman, David A. Mellis and Oren Horev
This course was oriented around a number of additional competences that are more foundational and relevant to other courses at the ITU and to the DKM study program in general. Emphasis was placed on a practical component of design processes, with a theoretical/analytical component. The final exam aimed to assess how well the students combine the two, and justified their decision making process throughout the project.
The objectives were to: Plan and carry out a small-scale user-oriented explorative design process based upon ethnographic studies, creativity methods and rapid prototyping techniques; Apply and combine a number of explorations, design, and prototyping methods for explorative design; and reflect upon design processes and interaction design through their own project experiences
