Bill was good friend of CIID. He was one of the founding pillars of Interaction Design and acted as an inspirational role model to many people all around the world. His passion for the human-centred process changed the way we think about design today.
As a person, he was intelligent, well-spoken, forward-thinking and visionary – but more importantly, he was an incredibly kind, good humoured, down-to-earth, gentle giant.
Bill was a pioneer, not just in industry, but also in education. As a respected speaker and visiting Professor, he taught at the Royal College of Art, the London Business School, Stanford University and was one on the Steering Committee at Ivrea.
We were highly privileged to have him on our Foundational Advisory Board at the Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design.
