Pilot Year Kick-Off!
Monday, 15th Sep 2008On September 15th 2008, Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design (CIID) and the Danish Design School (DKDS) launched their collaborative initiative: The Interaction Design Pilot Year.
CIID’s aim is to establish a high profile design education that encourages a multi-cultural and multi-disciplinary environment. Earlier this year they looked for existing academic partners to make a pilot year possible. At that time, DKDS was investigating new initiatives aimed at internationalising and developing the areas of interaction design and service design – the two partners proved to be the ideal collaborators to realise the Interaction Design Pilot Year.
The 12-month intensive educational programme consists of a series of modules, in three tiers: fundamentals, investigations, and the thesis. It will cover the design of graphical interfaces, tangible interfaces, and services, along with the skills needed to work in these mediums. For more information, see the curriculum.
The twenty-one participating students come from Denmark, Norway, Scotland, Ireland, Italy, Poland, India, Korea, Taiwan, and the U.S – with backgrounds in many disciplines including graphic design, photography, computer programming and architecture.
